Dan Merritt
Dan is the Founder and lead instructor of Sub Club Grappling and has been on the mats for many years. He simply loves grappling whether it’s in the kimono or nogi, wrestling or leg locks, he just wants to experiment, learn, have some fun and pass on the knowledge. Dan has a methodical approach to coaching and helps students to accomplish techniques they never thought they would be able to do with step by step tuition based on their personal requirements.

Rob Ash
With over a decade of experience, Rob began training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in late 2010 and has developed a well-rounded, global perspective on the art. He’s trained under world-renowned instructors across countries from Sri Lanka to St. Barts, gaining exposure to a wide range of styles and philosophies that shape his adaptive teaching approach.
He also holds a white belt in Judo—an ongoing inside joke and a nod to his humility and commitment to lifelong learning.
Known for his technical precision, approachable style, and balance of discipline and humor, Rob brings passion and patience to every class—welcoming students of all levels with genuine love for the art.

Sam Warburton
Sam began his martial arts journey in 2012 with Wing Chun, where he quickly developed a deep appreciation for structure, technique, and discipline.
In 2017, he transitioned into Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, drawn by the depth and challenge of grappling. From the beginning, he stood out for his meticulous approach—demonstrating a rare ability to internalise, recall, and execute techniques with precision and intent.
His passion is No-Gi grappling, where his analytical mindset and sharp attention to detail have made him an exceptional practitioner and teacher. His instruction is clear, concise, and practical—cutting through complexity to deliver high-quality training that resonates with both beginners and advanced students.

Zachary Stimpson
Zachary has been training since he was a young lad and his obsessional desire for grappling knowledge has left him with an old head on young shoulders. His in-depth historical and technical knowledge is staggering and makes for a very interesting conversation. Zachary’s presence is literally felt on the mat however his coaching manner is calm and motivating.

Marc Flye
Marc has a long-standing martial arts background in kickboxing and traditional Jujitsu, and began training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2015.
Known for his calm and welcoming approach, he brings a wealth of knowledge to each class and is passionate about helping students grow both technically and mentally.
Connor Beales
Connor has been passionate about martial arts since early childhood, starting his journey in Wado-Ryu Karate. He has been training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu since 2020.
He thrives on the challenge of testing new techniques under pressure, making adjustments, and constantly improving—a process that’s kept him hooked from day one.
Jim Renwick
Jim began his martial arts journey in 2000 with kickboxing, earning his black belt in 2008 and going on to coach at both the Southern Kickboxing Academy and Winchester Boxing Club. In 2021, started training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, drawn to its blend of physicality, technique, and constant challenge.
Now as an assistant instructor, Jim shares his passion by helping others progress while continuing to grow through his own training.
Ryan Salisbury
Ryan began his martial arts journey at the age of 5 with Taekwondo, laying a strong foundation in discipline and movement. He later transitioned to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, which he has trained in for over three years.
Known for his big personality, Ryan brings energy, fun, and laughter to the mats—complementing his technical skills with a positive and engaging presence.
