Sub Club Grappling is blessed with the luxury of training in two permanent dojos so we do not have the hassle of laying down and taking up a room full of mats. We turn up, train and leave.
Our primary home is the Winchester College Sports Centre and all our structured classes are conducted in the exquisite dojo which has a 12 metre by 12 metre mat area laid with tatami style mats on a sprung floor.
Accessing the building
The Winchester College Sports Centre is a newly built building and the main entrance is signposted giving access via large glass doors which enters the main reception. A member of the College staff will greet you at the reception and direct you to the changing rooms that we are to use that session. The dojo is located on the floor above the reception area.
Parking and Sat Nav directions
The car park is on site and can be accessed via Norman Road, St Cross, Winchester, SO23 9PW – Please use this post code if you are using Sat Nav. The car park facility on site must not be abused by leaving your car in situ whilst they pursue other points of interest in Winchester before or after training.
Alternative parking solutions
Winchester College is situated close to the City centre and the residential roads are permit parking, Monday to Saturday, between 8am – 6pm. After 6pm parking is unrestricted in the zoned parking bays and on single yellow lines.
For the Saturday classes between 10am – 12noon it may be that a short walk will be required and extra time allocated to finding a space and walking to be on time for class. These are some of the roads close by that have two hour free parking – Edgar Road, Christchurch Road, Beaufort Road, Ranelagh Road and Lansdowne Avenue. (Please check the signage on the road you are parking on before leaving your car).

Our secondary home is the Winchester Lido Sports Association and Sub Club Open Mat is held in the dojo which has a 10 metre by 6 metre mat area laid with tatami style mats.
Accessing the building
The Lido is a large white rendered building set behind a brick and flint wall. The access is via the steps on the right-hand side of the building where there is a door with an entrance panel and two buttons to choose from. For the open mat in the permanent dojo please press the top button with dojo written next to it and the permanent dojo is up the stairs and to the right.When the open mat is in the main sports hall there is a pair of doors in the middle of the building and access is via these.
Parking
There is a car park immediately outside however if it is full the Cattle Market carpark is opposite and access is off Worthy Lane, SO23 7AB. This is a pay per hour carpark.
